Raymond L. Pentlin

McLouth — Funeral services for Raymond L. “Pappy” Pentlin, 87, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McLouth Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.Mr. Pentlin died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at his home.He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Lawrence, the son of William Clark and Edith Mae Hill Pentlin. He was a longtime resident of McLouth and moved to Oskaloosa in 1999.Mr. Pentlin served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe.He was a longtime employee of the Jefferson County Road and Bridge Department, where he was a truck driver and county shop worker from 1969 until his retirement in 1986. He had previously worked for the city of Lawrence Sanitation Department for many years. He was a member of McLouth Church of the Nazarene.Mr. Pentlin married Marian Louise Gorden on Dec. 16, 1945, in Perry. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include six sons, Bill, Oskaloosa, Larry, Garland, Texas, Jim, Buckeye, Ariz., John, Belton, Mo., Dan, Perry, and David, Ozawkie; four daughters, Mary Fitzpatrick, McLouth, Carol Hale and Donna Bateman, both of Oskaloosa, and Gloria Ray, Lawrence; 23 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.The family will meet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church or Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
