Private family services for Winifred G. “Winnie” Fowler, 87, Lawrence, will be this spring in Jackson Hole, Wyo. She was cremated.Mrs. Fowler died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Lawrence, where she had lived since March 2005.She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Venice, Utah, the daughter of Louis and Cloe Gardner. She graduated from the L.D.S. School of Nursing in Salt Lake City in 1943.After taking time off for motherhood, Mrs. Fowler returned to work as a nurse at Natrona County Memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyo., where she was the supervisor of surgery until her retirement in 1989.She was a Cub Scout leader, room mother and member of several social groups. After retirement, she volunteered at the hospital and the Nicolaysen Art Museum.She married Robert Fowler on Dec. 2, 1944. He died May 28, 2005.Survivors include two sons, Dave Fowler and wife Pam, and Charlie Fowler and wife Ronda; a daughter, Anne Fowler and husband Haskell Springer; a brother, Dallin Gardner; a sister, Bonnie Roberts; five granddaughters, Kate Gaddis, Liz Carnival, Jenny Puttick and Sarah and Emily Fowler; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Grant, Jack and Clare.The family suggests an act of kindness in her memory.
