Pearl Mae Cooper

Funeral services for Pearl Mae Cooper, 93, Eudora, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Eudora City Cemetery.Mrs. Cooper died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Medicalodges of Eudora.She was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Ramona, Okla., the daughter of Pole B. and Bessie Lee Kerns Symonds. She graduated from Ramona High School.Mrs. Cooper worked as a waitress and hostess in Coffeyville until moving to Lawrence in 1954, where she worked part time at the Lakeview Club as a cook and hostess until the mid-1960s. She later worked as a seamstress out of her home for many local residents.She moved to Eudora in 1983, where she was a homemaker.Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Busy Bee Club of rural Lawrence and a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary.She married Jesse “Bud” Hodge on Dec. 22, 1928, in Ramona, Okla. He preceded her in death. She married Herbert W. Cooper on March 7, 1951, in Miami, Okla. He also preceded her in death.She also was preceded in death by two sons, Donal “Rusty” Jake and Robert Lee, and a granddaughter, Betty Jean.Survivors include two daughters, Sandy S. Clark and husband John, Eudora, and Peggy J. Brown, Coffeyville; four granddaughters, Kristi S. Mossberg, Joyce A. Bess, Kathy Fitzpatrick and Karen Osquisa; three grandsons, Johnny Brown and Donnie and Donald Hodge; 18 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
