Funeral services for Harold E. Carlson, 74, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton.Mr. Carlson died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at his home.He was born April 8, 1934, in Lecompton, the son of Fred J. and Margaret Alice Wilson Carlson.Mr. Carlson was a truck driver for Truck Drivers Teamsters Union No. 696 in Topeka for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and enjoyed hunting and fishing.He married Leota “Tommie” Kelch on Sept. 23, 1960, in Lawrence. She died July 8, 1998.Survivors include a son, Skip, Lawrence; a daughter, Lynn Campbell and husband Scott, Andover; a sister, Shirley Skinner and husband Tom, Lecompton; and four grandchildren, Trent and Taylor Campbell and Bailey and Hannah Carlson.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
