Elizabeth Joyce Maggard 1945 - 2009
Services for Elizabeth Joyce Maggard, 64, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the University Community of Christ Church.Ms. Maggard died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at her residence.She was born Jan. 27, 1945, in Canada, the daughter of George A. and Vera Gamet Njeim. She graduated from Lawrence High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University, as well as a master’s degree in social work from Wichita State University. She lived in Lawrence for more than 20 years.Ms. Maggard was an active member of her church, a writing group at KU, and taught English as a second language through her church. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Maggard, Florida, and Connie Arnold, Goddard; a sister, Marie Coulson, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The family suggests memorials to the University Community of Christ Church, 1900 University Drive, Lawrence, KS 66044.Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
