Pearle Maxine Coffman 1916 - 2009 Lawrence
Graveside funeral services for Pearle Maxine Coffman, 92, of Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Ms. Coffman died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born May 19, 1916, in rural Douglas County near Overbrook, the daughter of Lloyd Walter and Myrtle Louise Coursen Coffman. She attended Kempsey District Grade School and was a 1933 graduate of Overbrook Rural High School. She lived most of her adult life in Lawrence.She spent most of her working life associated with grocery and meat stores as a clerk and later as a bookkeeper. She retired from Harwood Grocery and Meats in 1981.She was a member of the Merry Matrons Club and the Commerce Seniors, both in Lawrence.Survivors include many cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Frances Coffman, in 2005.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary before processing to the cemetery.The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
