Bernard A. Taylor 1921 - 2009 Altamonte Springs
Winter Park, Fla. — A memorial service celebrating the life of Bernard A. “Bernie” Taylor, 87, Altamonte Springs, will be at 10 a.m. today at Calvary Assembly of God in Winter Park.Mr. Taylor died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at his home in Altamonte Springs.He was born on Aug. 21, 1921, in Colby, Kan. He graduated from Emporia State Teachers College and served in the Navy in World War II.Mr. Taylor taught and coached at Colby High School, Dodge City High School, Wichita East High School and Wichita State University before joining the Kansas University football staff, where he coached from 1960 to 1967. He worked in the financial aid office and the physical education department before retiring in 1986.He moved to Altamonte Springs in 1987 to join both of his sons who lived there.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Clara; his son Bob; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.His son Rod preceded him in death.The family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
