Edward Johnson Lowther

Osage Beach, Mo. — A memorial service for Edward Johnson Lowther, 74, Camdenton, Mo., will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Osage Hills Baptist Church in Osage Beach. He was cremated.Mr. Lowther died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.He was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Cincinnati, the son of Edward George and Nona Patricia Johnson Lowther. He grew up in Webster Groves, Mo., and graduated from Webster Groves High School.Mr. Lowther graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, serving as the vice president chapter adviser.He served in the U.S. Army, where he was a second lieutenant.Mr. Lowther was a former resident of Baldwin City, Kan., and worked at Baldwin Elementary School for many years.He was a member of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. He helped organize and build the YMCA in Webster Groves and was a member of the Optimist Club, the Elks Club, the Jefferson Club at the University of Missouri, and was a 32nd degree Freemason.Mr. Lowther enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, golfing and attending sporting events at the University of Missouri.Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Lowther Grissum and husband Gary, Fort Worth, Texas; a son, Ed and wife Laurie, Linn Creek, Mo.; five grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Grissum, Christopher Thomas Grissum, Edward Alexander Lowther, Hannah Lynn Lowther and Ainsley Grace Lowther; a sister, Nona J. Lowther Fowler and husband Charles, Leawood, Kan.; and many other relatives.He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Katelyn L.
