Edward “Ivan” Clare Sr.

Funeral services for Edward “Ivan” Clare Sr., 85, Meriden, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Creek Bible Church, at the intersection of Kansas 4 and Kansas 92 highways. Burial will be in Ozawkie Cemetery.Mr. Clare died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Ozawkie, the son of Michael James and Maude Ethel Funk Clare.Mr. Clare was a farmer and stockman in the Ozawkie area until his semiretirement in 1988. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, trapping and hunting.He married Freda Clark in 1952 in Ozawkie. They divorced.Survivors include a son, Eddie, Meriden; three daughters, Linda Everhart, Topeka, Regina Brown, Valley Falls, and Darla Clare Chew, Allen, Texas; a sister, Mildred Norris, Topeka; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his traveling and square-dance companion, Leota Martin, Meriden.The family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel.The family suggests memorials to the Jefferson County 4-H Fair building fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
