Conrad G. Maygers 1922 - 2009 Prairie Village
Overland Park — Mass of Christian burial for Conrad G. Maygers, 86, Prairie Village, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa.Mr. Maygers died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.He was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Baltimore, the son of Conrad and Mary Maygers. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He worked with Honeywell Corp., Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kansas City General Hospital (now Truman Medical Center) and the accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell(KPMG).Mr. Maygers served on the boards of Crittendon Center and The Missouri Hospital Association and helped set up the financial operations of Boys Town Institute. He coached Little League Baseball and Pop Warner football and led Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops. He enjoyed swimming, golfing and fishing and was a member of the choir at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.He married June Schott. They shared 61 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, David and wife Barbara, Kansas City, Mo., and Dennis and wife Melinda, Lawrence; two sisters, Theresa Bargar and Loretta Riggott, both of Maryland; and two grandchildren, Bryan and Holly.He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Marie, Cecelia, Cass and Margaret.The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Adoption Ministry, 8160 Parallel Parkway, Suite 103, Kansas City, KS 66112.McGilley and Hoge Chapel is in charge of arrangements and can be reached at 913-642-3565.
