Lila Mae Layton 1914 - 2009 Lawrence
No services are planned for Lila Mae Layton, 94, Lawrence. Mrs. Layton died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Lesley Fry and Love M. Gudgell Copeland. Mrs. Layton owned and operated two bars, the Purple Pig and Pink Elephant. She married John Miller. They divorced in 1944. She married Charles Kite. He preceded her in death in 1960. She married Wesley H. Layton on July 1, 1961, in Ottawa. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include one daughter, Shirley Rae Perdue and husband Burton, Perry; a stepdaughter, Ruth Kite, Lawrence; a stepson, Charles Kite, Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Kite, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Sandra Sailer, Jim Perdue and Kris and Jesse Kite; four stepgrandchildren, Audrey, Melissa, Michael and Richard; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and Michael.
