James R. McKenzie

A Celebration of Life for James R. “Rick” McKenzie, 56, Ottawa, will be between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m Wednesday at the home of John McKenzie, 407 Market St. in Overbrook. Cremation is planned. Mr. McKenzie died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009.He was born Sept. 16, 1952, on the air base in Burtonwood, Lancashire, England, the son of John Elbert and Donna Belle Dilts McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie graduated from Pomona High School in 1970. He worked at the Lawrence Paper Company for 34 years before retiring in June of 2007. He was a resident of Ottawa since 1983. He married Joyce Proctor on July 15, 1978, in Paola. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include his father, of Aloha, Ore.; a son, Patrick and wife Margaret, Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Christine Proctor, Ottawa; a twin brother, John and wife Pat, Overbrook, and two other brothers, Terry and wife Janice, Eudora, and Christopher and wife Dina, Lafayette, Tenn.; a sister, Marsha Vedder, Inman; six grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Tyler, Jaqob, Sloan and Shynalle Proctor; and many nieces and nephews.Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by his mother.
