Mass of Christian burial for Mary Jo Coleman, 69, Panama City Beach, Fla., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mrs. Coleman died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born May 11, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John Hanrahan and Mary Elizabeth Gary Traynor. She graduated from Raytown High School in 1956 and then attended Kansas University.She was a longtime resident of Lawrence and had moved to Panama City Beach in 2002.She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence, and St. Andrews Bay Quilters Guild and Panama City Garden Club in Panama City Beach. She was involved with Meals on Wheels, Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, and was a leader of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a past president of Delta Chi Mothers Club and Lawrence High School football booster club.She married Douglas Marion Coleman on Feb. 15, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Dec. 15, 2008.She was also preceded in death by a brother, John H. Traynor III.Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Brenner and husband Richard, and Mary Susan Pederson and husband Rick, all of Castle Rock, Colo., Nancy Roe and husband Doug, Little Rock, Ark., and Katie Coleman, Overland Park; three sons, Michael Coleman and wife Sarah, Overland Park, Andrew Coleman and wife Shea, Dothan, Ala., and Christopher Coleman and wife Joy, Lawrence; a sister, Patricia Rasmussen, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 17 grandchildren, Douglas, Bradley, Joseph, Sarah, Erin, Drew, Brennan, Samuel and Gracie Coleman, Kasil and Zachary Brenner, Jacob, Jessica and Mary Pederson, and Janie, Ann and Roger Roe.A rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. Monday, and the family will meet friends until 7 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to LINK, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Coleman.
