Mary Mellott Corcoran
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Mellott Corcoran, 83, Lawrence, will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Prairie Village.
She died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at her home.
She was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of federal Judge Arthur and Florence Hyatt Mellott.
She graduated from Fairfax College in Waynesboro, Va., in 1944. She attended Kansas University.
She was a sorority and fraternity housemother for Chi Omega for nine years and Sigma Nu for eight years.
She married Judge George W. Corcoran on Jan. 6, 1945. He survives of the home. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Jan. 6, 2010.
Other survivors include two daughters, Laurie Ann Corcoran, Rohnert Park, Calif., and Mary Patricia McCracken, Lawrence; one son, George Kevin Corcoran, Overland Park; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
