Marjorie Jean Tate 1924 - 2009
Funeral services for Marjorie Jean Tate, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
She died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
She was born May 22, 1924 in Perry, the daughter of Neal and Nellie Pearl Smith Goepfert.
She retired from Lawrence Senior Center, where she worked as the manager of the craft store. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrence.
She married Raymond Edward Tate on June 6, 1942, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Tate.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Tate, Rio Rancho, N.M.; and a brother, Claude Goepfert of Missouri.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
The family will greet friends an hour before the service.
