Les Stauffer 1925 - 2009 Lawrence
Funeral service for Walter Lester “Les” Stauffer, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lecompton Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.
Mr. Stauffer died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Lecompton, the son of Walter B. and Ibba J. Saylor Stauffer.
Mr. Stauffer worked at the Santa Fe Railway for 10 years and retired from FMC Corporation after 33 years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, working in the yard and supporting his family.
He married Betty J. Crady on Oct. 22, 1944, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Gary L. and wife Carolyn J., Lawrence; a brother, Joe, Lecompton; a granddaughter, Mendi R. Hanna; and great-grandchildren Cole S. and Carson T. Hanna.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The family suggests memorials to the Lecompton Historical Society, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1260, Lawrence, KS 66044.
