Karen Sue Cook Frankenfield

A memorial visitation for Karen Sue Cook Frankenfield, 71, Lawrence, will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Mrs. Frankenfield died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at her home. She had been a resident of Lawrence since 1979.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1938, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Willard and Mable Cook.
Mrs. Frankenfield was a housewife and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and involved with various community ministries. At the church, she taught Sunday Church School and Vacation Bible Study for many years, was volunteer coordinator, wedding coordinator, and served on many church committees. She was a member of the Women of ELCA as well as a Stephens Ministry Leader. She and her husband also volunteered for Douglas County Senior Services, Sertoma, Meals on Wheels and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She and her husband, Richard, received the Service to Mankind Award in the spring of 1999. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Phoenix Club.
She married Richard Lindbergh Frankenfield on Aug. 31, 1968, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two stepdaughters, Diane Frankenfield, Abingdon, Md., and Cindy Sitler and husband Don, Garnett; one son, Sam Frankenfield, Lawrence; one stepson, Richard Frankenfield and wife Sue Frey, Corvallis, Ore.; five grandchildren, Jackson Tarr, Michael Sitler, Tiffany Dunyon, Jamie Frey-Frankenfield and Patrick Frey-Frankenfield; and one great-granddaughter, Devynn Marie Sitler .
