Kelly A. Meek 1957 - 2009 Fair Oaks, Calif.
Services for Kelly A. Meek, 52, were Sunday in Fair Oaks.
Mr. Meek died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, in Carmichael.
He was born Oct. 3, 1957, in Herington, Kan., the son of James Roy and Jeanne Swenson Solbach Meek. He grew up on farms in Dickinson and Clay counties in Kansas. He graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1975 and attended Kansas State University before moving to California, where he completed his bachelor of science degree in business at California State University-Sacramento. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
Mr. Meek worked with his brothers in construction, and later ran his own electrical business and was a certified electrical contractor. He also earned a real estate license and was a sales representative and sales manager for several large telecommunication and electrical companies. He received awards including the Top Ten Club at Ideal Industries and regional manager of the year while at Marconi.
He was a volunteer in the Big Brother Big Sister program and at his church, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Carmichael.
He married Daphne Engle on June 1, 2002, in Joliet, Ill. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother; sisters Anne McVey and husband Bill, Land O’ Lakes, Fla., N. Jean Shanefelt and husband Bob, Decatur, Ill., Donna Breit and husband John, Palatine, Ill., and Teresa Witt and husband Kim, Sterling, Kan.; and brothers John M. Solbach and wife Patricia, Lawrence, Kan., Patrick D. Solbach and wife Jill, Loma, Colo., and Michael S. Solbach and wife Carol, Lyle, Wash.
Mr. Meek was preceded in death by his father, a brother, James P. Meek, and a sister, Phillis I. Minter.
