Arlis Allen

Funeral services for Arlis Allen, 81, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary’s Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Allen died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Golden Living Center, Pittsburg.
He was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Mountain View, Ark., the son of Alex and Mannie Lee Calhoon Allen.
Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 346th Combat Infantry and was in Germany and the European theater.
He moved to Eudora in the 1950s from Mountain View. He worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant for five years and was a machinist at the Delco Battery plant for 31 years. He retired in 1990.
Mr. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of United Auto Workers for 31 years.
He married Lola Frances Blevins on Dec. 24, 1955, in Lawrence. She died Jan. 24, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, David Arlis and Gerald Ray “Jerry,” both of Eudora; a brother, Bob Allen, Tipton, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Parker Don Laws, Shelby Denielle Allen, Hailey Marie Allen and Jenna Norene Allen.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary’s Eudora Chapel.
