Charles Lewis Tucker 1932 - 2009 Lawrence
Graveside services for Charles Lewis Tucker, 77, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Valley Brook Cemetery, south of Overbrook.
Mr. Tucker died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.
He was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Michigan Valley, the son of Frank and Opal Walker Tucker. He graduated from Michigan Valley High School in 1950.
Mr. Tucker worked for the Chevrolet dealership in Overbrook until he and his wife moved to Lawrence in 1958. He worked for NAPA Auto Parts in Lawrence for 23 years. Mr. Tucker had currently drove cars for the Crown Toyota and Chevrolet dealership in Lawrence.
He was a member of the Methodist Church of Michigan Valley, a 50-year member of Ridgeway Masonic Lodge in Overbrook and a member of the Elks Lodge in Lawrence.
Mr. Tucker enjoyed seeing the countryside on his trips and making new acquaintances along the way. He also was a fan and supporter of the Kansas University basketball and football teams.
He married Esther Lorraine Talley on June 5, 1954, in Overbrook. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Ann Tucker Eubank and husband Gary, Lawrence; a son, Steven Brent, Lawrence; three brothers, Morris Gwyn and wife Pat, Rutland, Vt., Ronald Bruce and wife Caroll, Lawrence, and Gary Edward and wife Sharon, Russellville, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Irene Ogle Tucker, Topeka, and Opal Bryson, McAllen, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bernice Tucker Bulmer, and a brother, Marlin.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook.
