Judith Ann Pettaway 1943 - 2009 Lawrence
A memorial gathering for Judith Ann Pettaway, 66, Lawrence, will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
She died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at her home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Houston, the daughter of J.E. and Rita Locascio Pettaway.
She lived in the Middle East, Lebanon and Greece for several years. After returning to the United States, she worked for the state of Louisiana in social services. She was involved in carnival organizations in New Orleans, where she rode horseback in Mardi Gras parades.
She loved animals and was involved with the Humane Society. She moved to Lawrence after Hurricane Katrina.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Pettaway Page, New Orleans; a niece, Courtney Wright and husband Donald, Lawrence; a nephew, Robert James Page, New Orleans; and a great-nephew, Cooper Wright, Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or Health Care Access, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
