Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Ann Purdon, 59, of Ozawkie, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church in Meriden. Cremation will follow.
Mrs. Purdon died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at her home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Lawrence, the daughter of Forast V. and Thelma I. Ridgway Hehn. She was a 1968 graduate of Lawrence High School and earned her degree in elementary education at Pittsburg State University in 1972.
Mrs. Purdon taught first grade at Jefferson West Elementary School for 37 years, from 1972 until her death.
Mrs. Purdon had lived in the Meriden/Ozawkie area since 1986. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church Catholic Church in Meriden.
She married John Michael Purdon on July 16, 1977, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include her mother, Thelma I. Hehn, Lawrence; two daughters, Kathryn Ann Purdon and Erin Elizabeth Purdon, both of Ozawkie; one son, Michael Scott Purdon, Ozawkie; a stepdaughter, Lisa Lee Purdon, Brooklyn, N.Y.; a stepson, Craig Sean Purdon and wife Polly, Bangkok, Thailand; and three stepgrandchildren, Coy Purdon Garrett, Lilly Wan Purdon and Peter Viphu Purdon.
A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Church, after which the family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
