Bo, 37, of Cornelius, NC died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home. surrounded by his family. Although he will be deeply missed here, we are comforted with the knowledge that he now with his heavenly Father. He was born on January 28, 1972 in Hendersonville, NC. He was a beloved father, son, brother, friend, business owner, published author and public speaker. Bo graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1990 and then from Appalachian State University in 1996 with a BS in Criminal Justice. While at ASU, he became a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated from the American College in 2007 with a MSM (Concentration in Leadership). Bo then went on to work as a Principle and Chief Marketing Officer of Financial Independence Group, Inc.
He married Christi Michelle Morgan on April 24, 2004. Their daughter, Addison Morgan Johnson was born on October 13, 2005.
Although a life-long non-smoker, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Bronchoalveolar Carcinoma (non-small cell lung cancer) on May 26, 2006. The disease was kept at bay with chemotherapy treatments, but on May 27, 2008 he received his first double lung transplant, followed by another on June 1, 2008.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his father, Berry Holland Johnson, Sr. of Hendersonville; mother, Ericka Adams Cain and step-father William (Bill) Henry Cain, of Cornelius; sisters, Tracia Lynn Johnson of Cornelius, Caroline Johnson Mullan and husband Mike of Huntersville; step-brothers, Daniel Taylor Cain and wife Andrea of Thomasville and John Marc Cain and wife Deborah of Grayson, GA; father-in-law, Larry Morgan; mother-in-law, Theresa Morgan; sister-in-law, Cynthia Morgan Harvey and husband Bill; Curtis Morgan and wife Erin; all of Lawrence, KS; sister-in-law, Crystal Dodds and husband Lt. Christopher Dodds of Honolulu, HI; brother-in-law Clint Morgan and fiancé Brittany Turco of Highlands Ranch, CO and countless other family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Merritt Franklin Johnson, Sr and Rosemary Holland Johnson and Herbert Eric Adams and Lucille Andrews Adams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Addi’s Cure, 19520 West Catawba Avenue, Suite 200, Cornelius, NC 28031. This organization was founded by Bo and Christi Johnson to educate and provide research funds in hopes of one day finding a cure for lung cancer. This organization was named for their daughter, Addi, because Bo said that no child should have to grow up without their daddy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Mark Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
