Zada Algona Phipps-Clough 1925 - 2009 Lawrence

Memorial services for Zada Algona “Sam” Phipps-Clough, 84, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phipps-Clough died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Heavener, Okla., the daughter of Claude and Floy Plummer Campbell. She moved to Lawrence in 1960.
Mrs. Phipps-Clough worked for the Kansas Public Service gas company and later for Kmart. She retired from Kmart in 1991. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, reading the Bible and visiting with her church family.
She married James Kenneth Phipps on Feb. 13, 1943, in Heavener. He died Jan. 8, 1988. She married Earl Clough on Sept. 26, 1992, in Lawrence. He died Feb. 2, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lester Campbell; and two sisters, Artie Satterfield and Mona Barnes.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Phipps, Lawrence; a daughter, Mary Spencer, Lawrence; a sister, Ruth Orr, Panama, Okla.; four grandchildren, Alyson Long and Greg, Garrett and Meredith Spencer; and nine great-grandchildren, Lea, Jade, Dalton, Mason, Erika and Kyle Spencer and Matthew, Eric and Alyssa Long.
