Rocelyn Roney Lonborg

A celebration of life and memorial service for Rocelyn Roney Lonborg, 75, Tarpon Springs, Fla., will be at a later date. She was cremated at Dobies Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs.
Mrs. Lonborg died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Mease Countryside Hospital in Tarpon Springs.
She was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Lyndon, the daughter of Roland E. and Cecile B. Roney. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1951.
Mrs. Lonborg earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kansas University in 1956. She earned a master’s degree in administration in 1975 and a doctorate in communication studies in 1989 from KU.
Her career includes work as a clinical nurse in medical-surgical, associate professor of the School of Nursing at KU, supervisor of psychiatric services at Leavenworth VA Hospital, director of clinical services at Charter Hospital in Overland Park, senior staff specialist at the American Nurses Association’s National Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and teaching associate at KU in communication studies.
She moved to Seattle and was director of the office of value assessment at Virginia Mason Hospital and later was the standards consultant at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle.
Mrs. Lonborg and her husband founded Photomontage, a fine art photography gallery, in LaConner, Wash. They retired in 2004 and moved to Tarpon Springs.
She married David Pearce in 1993. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Dolf Kristen Lonborg and wife Lillian, Scotland, Jan Kirke Lonborg and wife Vicki, Bradenton, Fla., and Roland Kyle Lonborg, Tarpon Springs; four grandchildren, Daniel, Robin, Lauren and Taylor Lonborg; two sisters, Rita Roney Metcalfe and husband Robert, Anchorage, Alaska, and Ruth Roney Hughes and husband John, Lawrence; six nieces, Debra Graham, Kelly Droop, Shannon Fitzpatrick, Erin Mayer, Jennifer McGonigle and Megan Richardson; and a nephew, Steven Hunt.
