Robert G. Glover

Memorial services for Robert G. Glover, 86, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
Mr. Glover died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his residence in rural Lawrence.
He was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Chanute, the son of Walter S. and Anna V. Hahn Glover. He graduated from Chanute High School.
Mr. Glover served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a welder in the construction industry, and worked on various steel buildings and pipelines, including the Alaska Pipeline.
He was a member of the Mormon church and the Pipefitters & Welders Union No. 467 in California. Mr. Glover was also a member of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 in Lawrence.
He married Carol S. McGinty on Feb. 9, 1959, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Robert S., Emporia, Ronald A,. Owasso, Okla., and Randall K., Fort Scott; three daughters, Kathy S. Meyer, Rocklin, Calif., Karen L. Coombes, Austin, Texas, and Cheryl A. Glover, Overbrook; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher B. Glover and Curtiss M. Glover.
The family will receive friends following the service.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home.
