Mildred Y. Seiwald

Private graveside services for Mildred Y. Seiwald, 86, Lawrence, will be held later.
Mrs. Seiwald died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Villisca, Iowa, the daughter of Lorenzo and Olive Scott Fidler. She graduated from Nodaway Consolidated High School in Nodaway, Iowa.
Mrs. Seiwald attended business school in Omaha, Neb. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mrs. Seiwald worked in the continuing education department at Kansas University for 18 years. She also worked on the family farm. She enjoyed reading and going to the Douglas County Senior Center.
She married Herbert M. Seiwald on Aug. 10, 1946, in Manhattan. He preceded her in death March 14, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Ira Fidler, and a sister, Kathryn Kretzinger.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Milleret and husband Dennis, Lawrence, Karen Crowe and husband Don, Plainville, and Clair Welsh and husband John, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Velma Kendall, Madrid, Iowa, Shirley Otto, Auburn, and Sharon Fellers, Galesburg, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Pamela and Leanne Milleret, Reid Crowe, and Stephanie and Erin Welsh.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
