Geraldine Naomi Ladds Shields 1914 - 2009 Mercer, Pa.
Slippery Rock, Pa. — Memorial services for Geraldine Naomi Ladds Shields, 95, Mercer, Pa., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church, Slippery Rock. Burial will follow at the church.
Mrs. Shields died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, in Grove City, Pa.
She was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Franklin, Pa., the daughter of William and Eva B. Ladds. She graduated from Grove City High School and Meadeville Business College.
Mrs. Shields was a bookkeeper for several small businesses in Iola, Kan., and Pennsylvania.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Iola and Zion Baptist Church in Slippery Rock. She was a grand matron in the Order of the Eastern Star in Columbiana, Ohio.
She married W. Arthur Shields on Sept. 2, 1939, in Meadeville, Pa. He died May 27, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Shields, Longview, Texas, and Joseph Shields, Ocala, Fla.; and two daughters, Sharon Rohlmeier, Lawrence, and Sandy Yarian, Volant, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Zion Baptist Church, 154 Currie Road, Slippery Rock, Pa. 16057-4522.
