Ozella Eva Burns

Funeral services for Ozella Eva Burns, 87, Lawrence, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Burns died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Baldwin Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Lamar, Ark., the daughter of John L. and Maude P. Horton Pearson.
She was a cook for Woodlawn School in Lawrence for 27 years. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and cooking. She was a member of Indian Hills Church of God, and was involved with Girl Scouts/Brownies and Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts. She was also a leader in 4-H, where she taught cooking and sewing.
She married Thomas L. Burns on Sept. 28, 1939, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death June 23, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Sue Taul, Baldwin City, Patricia Ann Breithaupt, Meriden, and Jeannette Marie Hadley, Lawrence; one son, Thomas E. Burns, Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary.
