Hugh Marvin Ridgway

Graveside services for Hugh Marvin Ridgway, 82, Baytown, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Ridgway died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, in Baytown after a battle with lung cancer. A funeral service was Tuesday at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Baytown.
He was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Hugh B. and Anne Robirts Ridgway. He was a 1944 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence. He earned a degree in business administration from Washburn University.
Mr. Ridgway served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Japan in 1945-1946.
He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1986 after 38 years of service. He was a more than 50-year member of the Masons, a Shriner, a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Pasadena Strawberry Square Dancers. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist church.
Mr. Ridgway was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Maxine House, in 1968.
He married Juanita Ridgway. She survives, of Baytown.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Brower and husband Stan, Spring Hill; two sons, Hugh M. Jr. and wife Janet, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Ron and wife Brenda, Topeka; three grandchildren, James Brower, Denise Schott and Hillary Ridgway; and a brother, Donald and wife Nancy, Augusta.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriner’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
