Doris Borland 1911 - 2009 Lawrence
Ottawa — Funeral services for Doris Borland, 98, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.
Mrs. Borland died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born June 8, 1911, in Princeton, the daughter of Oliver Lee and Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” Beal Roberts. She graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1929. She lived most of her life in Rantoul, and moved to Lawrence in 2001.
Mrs. Borland was a homemaker.
She married John Milton Borland on Feb. 4, 1939, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death March 23, 1976.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Ethel Roberts, Mildred Eighman, Edith Greenfield, Irene Eigsti and Ruth Ward.
Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Whitebread and husband Milton, Lawrence, and Arlene Burgoon and husband Ronnie, Topeka; a son, John Borland Jr., Topeka; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will meet them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
