Florence ‘Marie’ Maetzig

Burial services for Florence Marie Remington Waetzig, 94, Lawrence, will be at a later date in the Carbondale Cemetery. She was cremated.
Mrs. Waetzig died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after suffering a stroke at her home on Aug. 1.
She was born Dec. 22, 1914, the oldest of 12 children of Noble and Esther Remington. She had lived in the Carbondale area until moving to Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living in Lawrence five years ago.
She married Marion A. Waetzig. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Waetzig was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Dean Waetzig, as well as brothers Marvin and Raymond Remington and sisters Idell Piper, Pearl Moore and Lucille Addington.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Jean Crow, Topeka, and Wanda Bilsing and husband Sam, Lawrence; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Boaz, Jean Gish, Erma Trowbridge and Hazel Mae Owens; two brothers, Bob Remington and wife Viola, and Don Remington and wife Anita; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.
