Kenneth A. Ollila 1952 - 2009 Lawrence
Memorial services for Kenneth A. Ollila, 56, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Ollila died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 25, 1952, in Madison Heights, Mich., the son of Arthur K. and Jean I. Corriveau Ollila. He graduated from high school in Avondale, Mich., and later graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in psychology.
Mr. Ollila and his father owned nine Burger King franchises in Lawrence and various nearby communities from 1976 to 1999. In 2000, he became a Realtor with Lawrence Realty, which later merged with McGrew Real Estate.
He was the Lawrence Board of Realtors Salesperson of the Year in 2005. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Lawrence Board of Realtors, and a past member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He was involved in Scouting and was a leader of Troop 55. He enjoyed deer hunting, boating, music, the Chiefs and real estate.
He married Lynn R. Harrison on June 12, 1982, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Scott K., of the home; a daughter, Lauren R. Ollila, of the home; his parents, Lady Lake, Fla.; a sister, Connie J. Cischke and husband Michael, Houghton, Mich.; and in-laws Sid and Glenda Harrison, Lawrence.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
