Blake McNish

Funeral services for Blake McNish, 11, Lecompton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.
Blake died Friday, April 24, 2009, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., of complications from a brain tumor. He was diagnosed with cancer at 15 months of age, but enjoyed a period of time being cancer-free before it returned recently.
He was born Nov. 10, 1997, in Lawrence, the son of Tim J. and Amy Carlsten McNish. He was a fifth-grader at Perry Middle School.
Blake enjoyed school and time spent with his friends and family, and playing with his sister Jessica’s dog, Diesel. He enjoyed animals, movies, stuffed animals, fishing, and riding bikes and four-wheelers. He collected toy cars and construction machines.
Survivors include his father, Lecompton; a brother, Brad, of the home; two sisters, Jessica McNish and Jordan Williams, both of Lecompton; and great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as classmates and staff in the Perry-Lecompton school district.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Justine McNish.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
