Arthur Tryon Winchell

Funeral service for Arthur Tryon Winchell, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Winchell died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1919, in Lawrence, the son of Guy Arthur and Frances Russell Winchell. He was a graduate of Liberty Memorial High School.
Mr. Winchell was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army Air Forces.
He was a superintendent at Kansas Public Service Company, where he worked for 47 years. He was a member of the American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, the Acacia Masonic Lodge No. 9 for 51 years, and was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the University Bridge Club.
He married Mary Louise Noble on July 17, 1943, in Coffeyville. She preceded him in death March 27, 1991. He married Viola Gordon Oswald on June 25, 1993, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Molamphy and husband Dennis, Wichita; a son, Robert, Van Meter, Iowa; and five grandchildren, David, Mark, Sarah, John and Joseph.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association, and sent in care of the mortuary.
