Ann Chappell

Mass of Christian Burial for Ann Chappell, 80, of Topeka, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
Mrs. Chappell died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Homestead Retirement Community.

She was born on May 10, 1928, in Topeka, the daughter of Harry Sr. and Florence Beauvais Middleton.

She was a 1946 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Mrs. Chappell was a homemaker. She enjoyed interior decorating, gardening and traveling. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She married Philip Racknor Chappell on April 15, 1950, in Topeka. He retired from Curtis 1000 in Lawrence.

He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Mustain, Lenexa, and Amy Scanlan and husband John of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, David W. Chappell and wife Cathy of Penryn, Calif.; three grandchildren, Shannon Dick, Phillip Chappell and Claire Chappell; three great-grandchildren, John Michael Sword, Karina Mitchell and Nicholas Shirley; a brother, Harry J. Middleton Jr., Austin, Texas; and a sister, Joan Schooley, Topeka.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where the family will meet them from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a parish rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
