Marjory M. Brohammer

Celebration of life services for Marjory M. “Marji” Brohammer, 55, Baldwin City, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in rural Baldwin City.
Mrs. Brohammer died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Baldwin Care Center.
She was born Dec. 5, 1953, the daughter of Harold J. and Marie E. Brohammer. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1971 and Kansas University in 1977. She spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright scholar.
Mrs. Brohammer worked at the Applied English Center and the KU police department while completing advanced studies. She graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1986.
She moved to North Carolina in 1993 and worked as a home medical transcriptionist and lived in Hendersonville, Asheville, Charlotte and Gastonia before returning to Baldwin City in 2007.
She was an avid crafter, knitter and bead artist and belonged to many organizations, most recently the Charlotte Fiber Arts Guild. Her beadwork designs were published in Beadwork Magazine.
She married Michael Briggs. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include her mother, Marie Brohammer, Baldwin City; five sisters, Mary Brohammer, Lawrence, Marlena Wallace, Overland Park, Martha Roach, Newton, Marla Royer, Tulsa, Okla., and Margene Brohammer, Amarillo, Texas; three nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A meditation of thanksgiving will precede the service at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the White Memorial Camp in Council Grove, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
