Merrill David Sanger 1920 - 2009 Quinter

A memorial service for Merrill David Sanger, 88, Quinter, was April 16 in the Church of the Brethren in Quinter. Burial was in the Baker Township Cemetery in Quinter.
Mr. Sanger died Sunday, April 12, 2009, in the Gove County Medical Center in Quinter.
He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Paola, the son of Frank Preston and Matilda Jean Quellhorst Sanger. He graduated from high school in Springfield, Mo., and attended McPherson College, where he earned a music education degree in 1950.
Mr. Sanger farmed in the Gove County area, retiring in 1995. He also owned and operated the Quinter Standard Oil Station from 1974 to 1982.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Quinter. He was active in the music department, serving as choir director for many years and also as the music leader.
He married Eulalia Crist on Aug. 3, 1947, in Quinter. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Geneva Krehbiel, Pratt, Charla Tilton, Quinter, and Brenda Berggren, Lindsborg; a son Stanley, Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Warren, Bucyrus, Ohio; and two sisters, Hazel Augsburger, Columbus, Ohio, and Edith Layton, Barefoot Bay, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Sanger, and a grandson.
