Jeanne Fletcher

Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne Fletcher, 87, Lawrence, will be at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Schmeidler officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mrs. Fletcher died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Medicalodges of Eudora.
She was born April 29, 1921, in Superior, Wis., the daughter of Stanley and Alice Pogozaleskie Sawicki. She graduated from Superior High School.
Mrs. Fletcher worked in collections at the Credit Bureau of Lawrence. She was a member of St. John Church and enjoyed church activities, gardening and spending time with friends and family, including her grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, especially treats given as gifts at Christmas.
She married Jess F. Fletcher Sr. in 1942 in Superior. He died July 5, 1973. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a son, Jess Jr., Eudora; a sister, Sister Latitia, Stevens Point, Wis.; five grandchildren, Alicia Alcorn, Sherri Harleman, Jess Fletcher III, Sandi Rowe and Kathi Wagner; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends following the rosary until 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.
