Jimmy L. Lewis 1944 - 2009 Lawrence

Sedan — Memorial services for Jimmy L. Lewis, 64, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Sedan. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Riley Cemetery, east of Sedan.
Mr. Lewis died Monday, April 13, 2009, at his home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Sedan, son of V. Pearl and Marjorie McNown Lewis. He graduated from Sedan High School.
Mr. Lewis earned an associate’s degree from Butler County Community College and served in the U.S. Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1969.
He worked in management and sales and specialized in cement products and lawn and garden, with his most recent employment at Earth Works in Kansas City, Mo. He also was an entrepreneur.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and giving to others.
He married Ida Lou Burdett on Dec. 22, 1965, in Anacortes, Wash. They divorced.
Survivors include a son, Travis, Edgerton; a daughter, Tonya, Olathe; a brother, Bob, Wichita; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Sedan or the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, KS 67361.
