Elvin L. Parnell 1933 - 2009 Tecumseh
Memorial services for Elvin L. Parnell, 75, Tecumseh, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at Buster Cemetery, northeast of Perry.
Mr. Parnell died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Brookside care facility in Overbrook.
He was born July 21, 1933, in Williamstown, the son of Lloyd R. and Dorothy A. Dick Parnell. He had lived in Tecumseh since 1968.
Mr. Parnell graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1951 and attended Kaw Valley Area Technical School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957.
He worked in mechanical maintenance as a machinist for KP&L at the Lawrence Energy Center and Tecumseh Energy Center, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 14, AF & AM in Perry.
He married Sandra L. Tasker on Oct. 20, 1957, in Garden City. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Dale Parnell, Berryton, David Parnell, Topeka, and Michael Snyder, Topeka; two daughters, Gail Lickteig, Greeley, and Rae Lee Colson, Overbrook; a brother, Melvin, Perry; a sister, Meda Breault, Salina; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Tecumseh United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Brookside Retirement Community of Overbrook, sent in care of the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
