Rose Mary Diebolt

Atchison — Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Mary Diebolt, 91, Baldwin City, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict’s Church in Atchison. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Diebolt, formerly a longtime resident of Atchison, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Eden, in Atchison County, the daughter of Cyril and Rose Hager Schletzbaum.
Mrs. Diebolt was a homemaker and longtime volunteer for several Atchison charities, including the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary and the Atchison Library. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and listening to music.
She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church, St. Michael and St. Ann’s Circle and the Women’s Club of St. Benedict’s Church, the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary and Friends of the Atchison Library.
She married Joseph Diebolt on Aug. 26, 1940, at St. Louis Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2003.
A son, Joseph J. “Jim” Diebolt, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosemary Grove, Dillon, Colo., Kathleen Hayward, Lawrence, and Susan Diebolt, Overland Park; three sons, Mike Diebolt, Fremont, Calif., Dan Diebolt, The Woodlands, Texas, and Terry Diebolt, Topeka; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, with a recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to St. Benedict’s Church, Atchison Catholic School or Multiple Sclerosis Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 208 N. Fifth St., Atchison, KS 66002.
