Elsie Evelyn Watson 1916 - 2009 Rock Creek
Funeral services for Elsie Evelyn Watson, 93, Rock Creek, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Assembly of God Church, north of Meriden. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
She was born March 3, 1916, in Otoe, Neb., the daughter of Howard David and Edith Mary Paap Kerr. She graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1933 and lived most of her life in Rock Creek.
Mrs. Watson was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Rock Creek Church of the United Brethren. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Young Matrons Club, both in Rock Creek.
She also taught sewing and cooking for the Rock Creek 4-H clubs for many years. She was a member of the Red Dale camping club and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 399 in Meriden.
She married Lewis Francis Watson on Dec. 26, 1933, in Topeka. He died May 18, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Survivors include three sons, Harold D. Watson and Jimmy L. Watson, both of Topeka, and Ronnie A. Watson, Valley Falls; two daughters, Laverne Harmon, Rock Creek, and Leah R. Lawrence, Perry; a sister, Mable Hellifer, Florida; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel.
