Jean Keefer 1928 - 2008 Oskaloosa

Funeral services for Jean Keefer, 79, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery.Mrs. Keefer died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.She was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Lawrence, the daughter of Harvey Howard and Amy Ruth Haling Miskimen. She grew up in Vinland and graduated from Vinland High School.Mrs. Keefer worked at Rusty's IGA and later as a school bus driver. She retired as a process server from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in 1996. She then went to work for Capitol Federal Savings until 2001.She was a member of the Ladies Shrine Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid bowler.She married Arthur W. "Bill" Keefer on Dec. 16, 1950, in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Kern and husband Brian, Perry, and Carol Keefer, Oskaloosa; two sons, Gary, and Terry and wife Kristi, all of Lawrence; two sisters, Grace Oshel, Lawrence, and Phyllis Harris, Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren, Wendi, Emily, Kylie, Cassandra, Raelynn and Cooper; and seven great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Cooper's Cause Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary.The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Keefer.
