Roy Robert "Bob" Parker 1931 - 2008 Overbrook

Memorial services for Roy Robert "Bob" Parker, 76, Overbrook, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clinton Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at a later date in Clinton Cemetery.Mr. Parker died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Lawrence, the son of Kenneth and Marie Thurber Parker. He attended schools in California and New York, and Roosevelt High in Honolulu.Mr. Parker worked for Coca Cola Distributors, Canada Dry Beverages and Cadbury-Schweppes Bottling Company. After retirement, Mr. Parker completed training as a heating and air conditioning specialist and began his own heating and air conditioning business, Parker Enterprises.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and working on the family farm, which has been in his family more than 100 years.He married Martha Demeritt on Feb. 16, 1951. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Robert Leslie and Mark and wife Dene, all of Lawrence; a daughter, Linda Mack, Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Clint and Sally Jennings, Taylor, Daren and Haley Parker, Justice and Tara Mack, and Courtney Parker; a son-in-law, Tom Taul, Manhattan; a brother-in-law, Leslie A. Demeritt and wife Joan, Reno, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Demeritt Gordon, Lawrence, and Jenelle Parker, Meridian, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Taul; his parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Jack.Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home.E-mail condolences may be sent a <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
