Betty Marie Hunt

Graveside services for Betty Marie Hunt, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Meriden Cemetery, Meriden.Mrs. Hunt died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.She was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Meriden, the daughter of Sterlin Richard and Eva Frances Cook Whitlock. She was a lifelong resident of the Meriden area before moving to rural Lawrence in 2002.Mrs. Hunt was a school bus driver in the Meriden school district for 22 years. She also helped her husband in operating Hunt’s Service Station in Meriden for many years and worked as an Avon representative.She married Marion Kencell Hunt on Dec. 6, 1941, in Topeka. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Harlan Hunt and wife Vanita, Meriden; a daughter, Phyllis Wheeler and husband Warren, Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Hunt; a grandson, Robert Wheeler; four great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister.Friends may call after noon Sunday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel, where the family will receive them from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or Jefferson County Home Health Department, sent in care of the chapel, P.O.
