Gary Lee Rush

Graveside services for Gary Lee Rush, 69, Williamsburg, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mr. Rush died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Olathe Medical Center.He was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Gardner, the son of John Clifton and Minnie Alice Smiley Rush. He grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1955.Mr. Rush served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Johnson County and for Lawrence Paper Company and BF Goodrich in Lawrence before he became a carpenter in the Kansas City Carpenters Union. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of the home; two sons, Ronald Lee Dickey and wife Melissa, Waverly, and Gary John Rush and fiancee Barbara Taylor, Overbrook; three daughters, Gail Ann Foster, Juneau, Alaska, Cheri Lynn Yarger and husband Robert, Ozawkie, and Meriann Louise Gieck and husband Ron, Vassar; two sisters, Darlene May Schulz and husband Bill, Gardner, and Barbara Ann Newson and husband Bill, Olathe; and 14 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home.The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation Inc., sent in care of the funeral home, 712 Ninth St., Baldwin City, KS 66006.
