Sharon Lynn Schlossman

Funeral services for Sharon Lynn Schlossman, 60, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Holton Cemetery. Mrs. Schlossman died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, in Park Ridge, Ill.She was born Jan. 15, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy Span Higgins. She graduated from Maria High School in 1966 and attended Daley Junior College, both in Chicago. She also attended Highland Community College. Mrs. Schlossman was a homemaker, a church secretary at many Lutheran churches and a teacher at Hope Lutheran Preschool. She also worked for the Red Cross from 1979 to 1981 in St. Louis, and the Chicago Tourism and Convention Bureau from 1996 to 1999. She was actively involved in Lutheran congregations as she supported her husband in pastoral ministry.She was a member of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and served as a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School superintendent.She married the Rev. Martin L. Schlossman Sr. on July 2, 1966, in Chicago. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Sampson and husband Dennis, Topeka, and Heather Wallisch and husband John, Denison; a son, Martin Schlossman Jr. and wife Jolene, Topeka; and eight grandchildren, Rachel, Grace, Aaron, Tara, Hope, Matthew, Megan and Macy. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Martin L. Schlossman III, on Sept. 7, 1997.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.The family suggests memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran LWML, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
