Emily “Jane” Landrum Stayman

Memorial services for Emily “Jane” Landrum Stayman, 84, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church.Mrs. Stayman died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Washington Court House, Ohio, the daughter of Oris W. and Ernestine Morgan Landrum. She graduated from Washington Court House High School in 1942 and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Stayman held secretarial positions at Ohio State School of Medicine and Indiana University School of Business. She later became a convention coordinator for the Eye Research Foundation in Chicago and traveled extensively.She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the church choir. She was a 50-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and a member of a Lawrence chapter of P.E.O. She was a volunteer for Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of the Welcome Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She was a longtime avid golfer.She married George O. Stayman on Jan. 12, 1963, in LaGrange, Ill. He died Aug. 4, 2000.She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.Survivors include a daughter, Ann Stayman Hatke and husband Walter Hatke, Schenectady, N.Y.; a son, Robert Fox Stayman, Evansville, Ind.; and two grandsons, George and Graham Hatke.
