Lonnie H. Farris

Funeral services for Lonnie H. Farris, 90, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Porter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. Mr. Farris died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at his home.He was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Bolivar, Mo., and was a resident of Kansas City, Kan., since 1940. Mr. Farris served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served with the 48th General Hospital Group. He received the French Liberation Medal. He continued to serve the Kansas National Guard for 20 years.He owned Country Charm Dairy and 13 milk houses in Kansas City, Kan. He owned Farris Liquor Store in Kansas City, Kan., and joined his daughter at Stathas Liquor Store after he retired. Mr. Farris was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Quindaro Post 199, Mid America Dairy Council and member and past president of the Kansas Retail Liquor Dealers Association. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lorene Pollock Farris; four daughters, Martha Ann Duermyer-Ibarra, Linda Kay Hicks, Janice Stathas and Nancy Lee Ornburn; a stepson, Shawn; 14 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Martha Farris; two sisters, Wilma and Kay Farris; and a grandson.
